IHE Asia-Pacific 2008 Goals

The 4th IHE "Connectathon" and Interoperability Showcase 2008 is the next stap in achieveing the objectives of:

• Improving the quality of secure health communication using Australian Standards
• Educating about the IHE process focusing on the strengths of a pragmatic approach to current problems with effective vendor and  user engagement
• Support the move to filmless radiology through adoption of an IHE specification ("profile") for image CDs
• Examination of the internationally developed IHE profiles' ability to solve IT integration problems in Australia. For example, the IHE XDS suite of profiles supports many if not most of the inter-organisation health communication usecases.
• Support the introduction of IHE profiles which address current problems eg. the PDI profile for standardisation of image content on CDs and radiology scheduled workflow.
